The Rhythmic Dance of Awareness

My journey towards massage and yoga began with my own battle to relieve myself of chronic pain and straighten out my scoliosis. I began with traditional chiropractors and advanced body workers and slowly discovered Feldenkrais and Kripalu Yoga. I realized that when I integrated movement therapies into my practice, I began to unwind deep imprints of chronic stress and trauma that had informed how I moved in the world. I began to discover patterns and habits that reflected my thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. I became aware of the repetitive familiar ways I responded to the perception of stress, real or imagined, and I began to explore options and choices I never knew existed. This practice of inquiry and mindfulness is the signature of Amani Yoga. I invite students to bring curiosity, courage, and compassion to their mat as they explore new ways of moving in the yoga poses and in the world.

Vinyasa Flow

This all-levels class utilizes the traditional sun salutations to link the breath to the body, the body to the mind, and the mind to the present moment. Students learn to notice patterns, explore options, and discover choice as they mindfully move from one pose to the next. This class focuses on the foundational poses on your feet and on your seat. Students practice poses that encourage balance, strength, and flexibility.

Mindful Moves

This class utilizes yoga poses to practice mindfulness and gain somatic awareness skills. Through invitation and inquiry students learn how to orient, ground, and center as they navigate their way through the sequence. This class focuses on exploring extension, flexion, and rotation in every pose presented. The student is encouraged to pay attention to the breath, the limits of the body, and the balance of effort and ease.
